Tori's new book Awesome Brain Games for Kids: STEAM Puzzles and Facts for Curious Minds is on sale on February 11, 2020! The book is filled with all sorts of STEAM games, questions and answers and amazing leaders. Tori and Mandi (who is also an author) talk about the writing process, how Tori came up with all of the games, and Tori's goal of making the book diverse in topics and people.

Jennifer George, Rube Goldberg’s granddaughter, joins Tori Cameron to chat all things Rube Goldberg.  Jennifer shares about her creative family and what it was like growing up as Rube’s granddaughter. Rube Goldberg is known around the world for his hilarious inventions that were made famous through his detailed comics. Nowadays, students, schools and educators create Rube Goldberg machines and celebrate Rube’s engineering and creativity. The machines are multi-step chain-reaction contraptions that solve a simple task. 

Jennifer and Tori chat about teaching students to think outside the box and think differently. They also chat about how to teach about Rube Goldberg Machines. The discuss the importance of MakerEd, and how to integrate creating and building in all types of classes and for all ages. Later in the episode they discuss the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest, the Rube Goldberg Museum Exhibit: The Art of Rube Goldberg and the Rube Goldberg Children’s Museum Exhibit.

Jennifer and Tori finish the episode with chatting about Girls Who STEAM, Tori’s after-school club. Jennifer gives Tori some advice for how to integrate more fashion and sewing into STEAM.

Eagan Tilghman from Making It joins Tori Cameron and guest host Mandi Figlioli on Season 3 Episode 4 of STEAM Up the Classroom. They chat about student voice, the culture of schools, and the importance of including STEAM into all subjects. Eagan’s interview is raw and real and he tells Tori and Mandi of the difficulties he faced as a student who enjoyed “making” at a small town high school that focused on sports. He expresses his thoughts on how schools can build more art, STEAM, and kindness into their cultural climates. They chat doodling, sketchnoting, building, and allowing students to “learn in their own way.” Eagan also shares about his experience on season 2 of Making It, a terrific competition show that highlights 9 incredible makers from across the United States. We chat about the different makers, what it’s like to be on the show, and our hopes for the future of the show. We even shout out to Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Little Bits!
